Conditions we evaluate
What conditions does Corrective Chiropractic treat?
We specialize in evaluating and working with back pain, neck pain, disc bulge, spinal stenosis, sciatica, radicular pain (arm pain and leg pain from nerve compression), chronic pain, joint inflammation, autoimmune-related musculoskeletal issues, headaches, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel, neuropathy, and difficult spine pain that hasn't responded to other treatments. Every case starts with an honest evaluation to determine if we're the right fit.
Can a chiropractor help with disc bulge or spinal stenosis?
Dr. Strother specializes in evaluating difficult spine conditions including disc bulge, herniated discs, and spinal stenosis. He uses NeuroStructural Correction and spinal decompression therapy as part of his approach. Whether chiropractic is right for your specific case depends on the evaluation — if he can help, he'll let you know. If he can't, he'll tell you that too and help point you in the right direction.
Can chiropractic care help with sciatica and radicular pain?
Sciatica and radicular pain (pain that radiates into the arms or legs) are among the most common conditions we evaluate and work with. Dr. Strother uses spinal decompression, corrective adjustments, and rehabilitative exercises as part of his approach. Results vary by individual — he'll assess your specific case and give you an honest picture of what's realistic.
What is radicular pain?
Radicular pain is radiating nerve pain, often felt in an arm or leg, that can come from nerve irritation or compression. We evaluate that pattern and look for the source during your visit.
Is radicular pain the same as sciatica?
Sciatica is a common form of radicular pain that travels into the leg. Radicular pain can also affect the arms when a nerve in the neck is involved. We evaluate those patterns to find the source.
Should I use heat or ice for my back pain?
Many patients use ice the first 24–48 hours after an acute injury. After that, or for chronic muscle stiffness, heat can help muscles relax. Dr. Strother will give specific recommendations based on your evaluation.
Is bed rest good for back pain?
Prolonged bed rest is typically not recommended for back pain, as it can lead to muscle stiffness and weaken the core muscles that support your spine. Gentle, appropriate movement is generally better — but every case is different, and Dr. Strother will assess what makes sense for your specific situation.
How can I prevent my back pain from returning?
That depends on the underlying cause. Maintaining proper spinal alignment, practicing good posture, engaging in core-strengthening exercises, and using proper lifting techniques can all help. Dr. Strother will evaluate your situation and give you honest guidance on what's realistic for your case.
Can sitting too much cause sciatica?
Prolonged sitting is one lifestyle factor we look at with sciatica and back pain. An evaluation looks at spinal structure, nerve irritation, and daily habits rather than assuming one cause.
Does spinal stenosis always require surgery?
Not always. Some people explore conservative evaluation first. Dr. Strother gives a direct assessment of whether a corrective approach may be appropriate for your case, and he will say so if you should be looking at other options.
Why does leaning forward relieve my spinal stenosis pain?
Forward bending can change space around irritated nerves for some people. An evaluation determines whether that pattern applies to you and what, if anything, may help.
Can chiropractic care help a bulging or herniated disc?
Some disc cases may be appropriate for conservative evaluation, including spinal decompression for some patients. Not every disc case is a chiropractic case. Dr. Strother will tell you if he can help and if he cannot.
Can a chiropractor help headaches that start in my neck?
Many headaches can be related to the cervical spine. We take a structural and neurological look to see whether that applies to you.
Can a chiropractor help peripheral neuropathy?
We evaluate numbness, tingling, and burning with a neurological and structural exam. Care may help some patients. Individual results vary, and an evaluation determines whether care may be appropriate.
Do you provide chiropractic care for kids?
Yes. We provide gentle pediatric spinal evaluations and age-appropriate care for infants, children, and teens. Dr. Strother holds a fellowship from the ICPA. Early structural correction may help children as they grow.
Why does my arm pain feel like it's coming from my neck?
Nerve-related arm pain can be related to the neck or spine rather than only the arm or wrist. We evaluate that pattern.
Can chiropractic help with chronic pain and autoimmune joint inflammation?
Chronic pain and joint inflammation — including conditions related to autoimmune disorders — are conditions Dr. Strother regularly evaluates. He takes a whole-body approach and will give you an honest assessment of whether chiropractic care is appropriate for your situation. Not every case is a fit, and he'll tell you directly either way.
I've tried everything for my back pain, including surgery. Can you still help?
Dr. Strother evaluates persistent or complex cases. He will review what has already been tried and give an honest yes or no on whether his approach is a fit. If it is not, he will say so.
X-rays, exams, and safety
Will I need new X-rays or MRIs?
X-rays or other imaging are often critical to understanding the true cause of your pain. After your consultation and exam, Dr. Strother will recommend the imaging your case needs. For complex or difficult spine cases, we use up-to-date, highly specific imaging to see exactly what is happening with your spinal structure and nervous system.
Should I bring my MRI to a chiropractor?
If you have prior imaging or reports, you're welcome to bring them. X-rays or other imaging are often critical to understanding the true cause of your pain. After your consultation and exam, Dr. Strother will recommend the imaging your case needs.
Is it safe to get adjusted if I've been in pain for years?
Care for long-standing pain starts with an evaluation. Dr. Strother will tell you if chiropractic is appropriate for your situation and if it is not.
Spinal decompression
What is spinal decompression therapy, and how does it work?
Spinal decompression is a non-surgical traction therapy that gently stretches the spine to take pressure off compressed discs and nerves. It is one tool in Dr. Strother's approach, used on some back, disc, sciatica, and stenosis cases. Whether it is appropriate depends on the evaluation findings.
